Mappex

Terms of use

Last updated: 26 October 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Mappex ("Mappex", "we"), established in the United Kingdom, about the Mappex app for iPhone, Apple Watch and Android and the website at mappex.app. By creating an account, or by following a car without one, you accept them. If you do not, do not use Mappex.

What Mappex is

Mappex helps rally crews prepare an event and get through it: the itinerary and programme, the stages on the map, the recce, the fuel plan, the weather, the documents, the time controls, the results, the tyres and the setup — prepared on the web, carried on the phone without a signal, and shared with the team and with the people who follow the car.

Your account

You need an account to prepare rallies. You must be at least 16, give a working email address, keep your password to yourself and tell us at contact@mappex.app if you think somebody else has used it. You are responsible for what is done with your account.

Following a car needs no account. A follow link or code gives whoever holds it the view the co-driver has chosen to share; the co-driver can withdraw it at any time.

You can delete your account at any time from the Account screen in the app or at mappex.app/account/delete. That removes your rallies and everything in them, and cannot be undone.

Your content

The itineraries, notes, photos, documents, recordings, stories and everything else you put into Mappex stay yours. You give us the licence we need to store it, sync it between your devices, show it to the people you share it with and send it to the services named in the privacy policy, and nothing more. You are responsible for having the right to upload it — a photo of somebody else, an organiser's document, a video from the car.

Do not use Mappex to break the law, an organiser's regulations or anybody's rights; to send abuse; to attack, overload or reverse-engineer the service; or to reach data you have not been given a role to see. We may suspend or close an account that does.

In the car

Mappex is an aid. It is not a timing device approved by any federation, not a navigation system and not a substitute for the road book, the regulations, the organiser's instructions or your own judgement. In particular:

  • Time-control countdowns, warnings and the clock on the watch can be late, early or missing — the phone's clock, its battery, its signal and the system's own scheduling are outside our control. The co-driver remains responsible for every check-in time.
  • The tripmeter is the phone's GPS and motion sensors, and reads differently from a calibrated odometer.
  • Fuel calculations, distances and routes between stages are estimates from the data you entered.
  • Weather forecasts are a third party's and may be wrong for the road at the time.
  • Generated pacenotes are a first draft to be corrected on the recce, never to be driven as they are.
  • The race engineer's suggestions are produced by an AI model and are not the advice of an engineer who has seen your car.
  • Results and entry lists come from the organisers' timing providers and public results sites, and are not the official classification.

Never operate the phone while driving. The driver's attention belongs to the road.

Rallying is dangerous. How fast to drive, whether a road is safe and when to stop are decisions for the crew and for the organiser's safety arrangements, never for the app. Nothing in Mappex — a pacenote, a weather or surface reading, a stage map, an elevation profile — tells you that a road is safe, and Mappex is not a safety system.

Plans and subscriptions

Some features are part of a paid plan. Mappex Basic and Mappex Plus are auto-renewing subscriptions sold through Apple's App Store or Google Play, under their terms. The price and the period are shown in the app and in the store before you buy. A subscription renews automatically for the same period, at the price shown, until you cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account settings at least 24 hours before the current period ends; cancelling keeps the plan until then. Refunds are handled by the store under its rules. A plan belongs to the person or team that bought it, and the features it unlocks apply to the cars that plan covers.

Availability and changes

Mappex is young and changes often. We may add, change or remove features, and we will try to keep working offline whatever we change. We aim to keep the service available but do not promise it will be, in particular during a rally: keep paper copies of what matters. We may end the service with reasonable notice, giving you time to export what is yours.

We may change these terms. For a change that matters to you we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect; continuing to use Mappex after that is accepting the new terms.

Liability

Mappex is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for a missed or early time control, a time penalty, a lost position, exclusion from an event, a lost prize or entry fee, a wrong fuel load, a wrong route, damage to a car, a lost recording or any other loss that comes from relying on the app, nor for indirect losses. Nothing here limits a liability that the law does not allow to be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, and nothing here takes away the rights you have as a consumer.

Third parties

Mappex uses maps from Mapbox, weather from Open-Meteo, sign-in from Apple and Google, AI models from Anthropic, video from Amazon Web Services and timing from the organisers' providers. Their services come with their own terms, and we are not responsible for them.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction. A consumer in the European Union or elsewhere also keeps the protection of the mandatory rules of their own country, and the right to bring a claim there. We would rather sort anything out directly: write to contact@mappex.app first.
